What does the Red Cross Youth do?
One of the worst things about living in reception centers is the uncertainity the asylum seekers have to live with while waiting for their asylum application to be processed. This waiting time is often very long, and many young people live several years in the reception center.
What does the Red Cross Youth do?
To make the waiting time at the reception center easier, the Red Cross Youth organize activities for young asylum seekers. A night at the movies, playing football, go hiking in the mountains or just meeting up at a café may help them set their difficulties aside for a while.
In addition to make the everyday life of the young asylum seekers easier, the volunteers that work with this activity get the chance to meet children and youth from other countries and cultures, and learn new things from them.
The Red Cross Youth – Open and inclusive
The Norwegian Red Cross Youth has as a goal to be a more diverse organization. We don`t only want to give the asylum seekers the chance to participate in the activities at the reception centers, we would also like to give them the oportunity to participate actively in the organization. By joining the Red Cross Youth they get to know local youth, and together we can lay the foundation for mutual understanding and more inclusion.
