(04.05.2009) Active Choice is one of the major focus activities of Norwegian Red Cross Youth. The main objective is to make young people more aware of sexual health. On 20th April to 22nd April we held a course in Active Choice.
We had been to many series of activities to be prepared for an Active Choice workshop for a confirmation group. First we had organised Instructor refresher course to all the instructors because it had been a long time since they had participated in a course. Refresher course helps even us to remind many things we learned during our own course.

Here, I'm talking about the plan on refresher course with Sindre Zeiner Gundersen, AU of Akershus Red Cross Youth, who is responsible for Active choice.
We had altogether visited three different schools; Kjellervolla, Sørumsand and Stalsberg with lots of energy and excitement to hold Active choice workshops for the 14 conformation groups.
We were already used to be inside the workshop hall and receive participants. Participants of the workshop looked incredibly eager to be trained and to take active part of the workshop.

Active Choice instructor Sindre Zeiner Gundersen is holding a course and this student is trying to put together a puzzle.
Active choice workshops begin with a short introduction of the instructor and his/her helpers. After a short introduction it went on with a condom cocktail, a puzzle, a agree/disagree game and a condom demonstration.

Active Choice instructor Jørn from Oslo Red Cross Youth is giving information about important things to remember when using a condom.
When the participants came to practise using condoms on a dildo, it seemed that someone didn’t want to touch it, but most of them where eager to play with dildos and put on condoms.

Active Choice instructor Sindre Zeiner Gundersen is helping out a young student on the condom demonstration.
Some youths practise only once, but some tried it twice and even three times after all participants finished their round.
It seemed like a big challenge to hold a course for 270 students, but it went very well due to well preparation of all the instructors and helpers. We were altogether six instructors and five volunteers.
