(23.03.2009) Red Cross became the most interesting place for the school students who wanted to work as a school practice. Many youths want to work in Red Cross for their practise since the Red Cross has many attractive activities for them.
Seven students chose Akershus Red Cross as a platform for their last two months of work, training with Red Cross in Akershus. We youth delegates; me and my co-delegate, Vishwa, were suppose to work with them. According to the students they got more knowledge about Red Cross and also got a good chance to help out the people in different activities of Red Cross like ‘homework help’, ‘norskkurs’ and Activities for asylum children.

Sindre, Durga, Camilla and Viswha gave information about human trafficking at Akershus University in Kjeller.
Karoline R. Hertzenberg says: - I got much information and history about the organization. I learned many activities for youths, (Active Choice, On the Run, Rules of War) and how the youth groups in Akershus works. In addition I learned about human trafficking. I think coming to Red Cross was a good idea for a student like me because attending a class where we work with questions concerning aid to people who is in a difficult position, volunteer work and other topics/questions within the theme solidarity, is important to me. It was useful to actually see, and join some of the Red Cross youth activities, and to get a better impression of their work.

Karoline is helping one of the children at the asylum center.

Kristina - leader of Akershus Red Cross Youth, Taqaddas and Lena handed out leaflets on Nannestad High School.
Apart from that, we did much informative work with those students we chose. We held a stand of Active choice and distributed many condoms and Red Cross leaflets in Ås University. Another day we had a stand in Strømmen High School about Red Cross youth. We kept 2 stands about human trafficking and did performance in Akershus University and Nannestad School.
Our main objective was to recruit new youths from the schools. I found it a very good idea to have stands and do something interesting in the schools or the universities, it is a very good way to get new volunteers and dissemination about the Red Cross activities. I think Active choice and human trafficking was the most interesting topics for the youth.
