(29.05.2009) Activities with the Asylum home group has recently started, as one of the Bergen Red Cross Youth activities. We have been involved with them, with the district, as one our activities. Since then we are working with them to support the group.
In April the group had a fruitful meeting with the asylum seekers in the reception centre, aiming to plan the activities and choose who they wanted to participate.

On Saturday, the 2nd of May, we trekked to Løvstakken, a mountain in Bergen. It was weekend, the weather was very cold and cloudy in Bergen city. We went to the meeting place. We expected that the cold weather could prevent the asylum-seekers from joining this trip, but they came.

We started hiking to Løvstakken(477moh). We all spoke different languages (Arabic, Farsi, English and Norwegian). It was a beautiful trip, and a sight at the top of the mountain. The trip took about three hours.

The asylum home group has plans to hold a lot of activities with asylum-seekers such as: swimming, hiking, football, cooking, visit the aquarium, and billiards, etc., etc.
Now the asylum group is planning to join the “Til Topps”-trip on the 13rd of June with the asylum seekers, and we are now planning to join this trip with them, it will be the last activity with Hordaland Red Cross Youth before the homecoming seminar, and I’m very much looking forward to it.
