Life on the street

Alix Maria is a 17 years old girl from Santa Marta, Colombia. She is part of a Colombian Red Cross program called PANICA, a program for children from, in and of the street. In Santa Marta PANICA has among other activities, activities with a foundation called “Coracones Felizes”, and Maria has participated since it started.

Focus on the environment

The Red Cross Youth in Colombia had a special focus on the environment and global warming in their annual national camp where volunteers from all over the country get together. A dramatization of the future, a model of how we pollute and how this affects the atmosphere, and information on cellular phones as an environmental problem were only a few of the demonstrations taking place on the environmental market where all the districts had a stand.

PANICA – Colombian Red Cross’ street children programme

In Colombia it is a problem that children stay in the streets, either actually living there or spending a large amount of time of there. The Norwegian youth delegates in Colombia, Ingvild and Hanne Beate, are working in Santa Marta with the Colombian Red Cross’ street children programme, PANICA.

Uses her own experiences to help others!

When Nayan Anaconda was 9 years old she worked in the streets together with her mother and her little sister. Then she joined the Colombian Red Cross street children programme, Panica. And today the 14 years old girl is a volunteer in the Red Cross and she is helping children in the same situation as the one she was in to move forward.
