The movement of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent is the world’s largest humanitarian organization with 185 member countries and close to 100 million individual members. These represent a unique international network.

What does the Norwegian Red Cross Youth do?

The Red Cross Youth in Norway participates actively in our international network. We exchange youth, participate in international camps and conferences and spread knowledge about the humanitarian work conducted by the Red Cross in the rest of the world.

The Youth Delegate Program

Every year we send and receive Youth Delegates who get to learn more about Red Cross work in other countries. The goal with this program is to learn from each other and further develop the youth departments of the Norwegian Red Cross and the countries we cooperate with. We exchange youth with Armenia, Colombia, Kenya, Lebanon and Nepal. Among other things, the Youth Delegates work with organizational development, information work and disaster relief. They receive insight into international humanitarian work by performing concrete tasks in the country where they work. Read more

Youth Camp in the Balkans: Friendship Without Borders

Once a year we gather youth from Norway and the Balkans to a one week summer camp. The themes of the camps are Red Cross values, and we also focus on the common challenges we have as Red Cross Youth volunteers. Read more

Exciting cooperations in the Norwegian Red Cross districts

In Norway, Red Cross is represented in all the districts (fylker). Many of these cooperate with Red Cross districts in other countries. Maybe the Red Cross in your district has a partner society abroad?

In many districts young volunteers are important in the partnership. The activities they participate in can range from collecting money to donating clothes in orphanages.

Some examples:

Hordaland Red Cross Youth, Norway, cooperates with Red Cross in Bungoma, Kenya.
